I was listening to my neices practice for choir. They were singing
Sweetly the Swan Sings. I, being unfamiliar with the song, misheard it as "sweet Lela Swanson"
They seemed perplexed when I asked them who Lela Swanson was and then laughed when I explained why I was asking.
They invited me to join them in singing their rounds (I accepted 😁). We then pondered if Lela Swanson existed and who she may have been, what she may have done. The oldest figured she was probably some kind of artist.
We took to the interwebs in search of Lela but found mostly dates and places of birth and death. In the end we were mostly left with the Lela of our imaginations.
Surely, as a baby, Lela's parents must have held her in their arms, looked at her and sang "Sweet Lela Swanson, do de a do, do de a do, do de a do..."
